Why Did Africans Choose Not To Conquer America?

The slave trade was not in effect until the end of the 1400's. During this period the city of Mali in Africa was more culturally advanced, more rich and powerful than any European city before and during this time. Africa did business with the Europeans in the slave trade. Why did Africans choose not to conquer America with the Portugese, French, Spanish and British?
