What is the best pet lizard?

I am considering getting a lizard soon and want to know what is the most social. I have had an iguana a bearded dragon and a mali uromastix in the past. I loved the mali and iguana but, was not fond of the beardie (maybe because I got him as an adult) the care and upkeep is not an issue for me, I even like the larger reptiles, but my concern is temperament, which type of lizard could I take out and let run around the house some for exercise and likes to be handled? thanks
